Cutting Instructions: Use a good mix of background fabrics for a pleasing look.
NOTE: Pattern refers to Blue fabrics (1-4) however this could be any colour based on your choice.
Background:
(2) 4 1/4" squares - cut in half diagonally once
(1) 4 1/4" square - cut in half diagonally twice
Blue (fabrics 1-4)
Cut from each fabric:
(1) 4 1/4" square - cut in half diagonally once
(1) 4 1/4" square - cut in half diagonally twice
Sewing Instructions:
Make Half Square Triangles (HST) by placing (1) Background large triangle on top of (1) Blue #1 Large triangle, right sides together, as shown: Sew 1/4" seam allowance along long side. Square up to 3 1/2".
Make (1) of EACH Blue.
Make center Quarter Square Triangle (QST) by sewing (1) Blue #3 and (1) Blue #1 small triangles together, as shown on left. Be careful of colour placement.
Next, sew (1) Blue #4 and (1) Blue #2 small triangles together as shown on right. Be careful of colour placement.
Sew above units together. Square up to 3 1/2", if needed. Make 1.
Next sew (1) Background small triangle to each small Blue triangle, as shown.
Sew above units to Blue Large Triangle units, as shown. BE VERY CAREFUL OF COLOUR PLACEMENT. Square up to 3 1/2", if needed.
Assemble your block as shown:
Your block should measure 9 1/2".

Cutting Instructions:
Background:
(5) 3 1/2" squares.
(4) 2" x 3 1/2" rectangles.
Light Blue:
(12) 2" squares - draw a diagonal line on wrong side.
Dark Blue:
(4) 2" x 3 1/2" rectangles
Sewing Instructions:
Make Flying Geese by placing (1) 2" Light Blue square on one end of (1) 2" x 3 1/2" Background rectangle, right sides together. Sew on line, flip and press to blue. Repeat on opposite end, being careful of placement. Make 4.
Sew (1) 2" x 3 1/2" Dark Blue strip to (1) Flying Geese unit, as shown:
Make the following unit using (1) 3 1/2" Background square and (4) 2" Light Blue squares. Square up to 3 1/2" if needed. Make 1.
Assemble your block as shown. Your block should measure 9 1/2" unfinished.
